The iPhone 14 Pro Max offers many upgrades over the iPhone 14 Plus. The Apple iPhone 14 Plus vs Apple iPhone 14 Pro max spec has some obvious differences; rear camera setup, not to mention different battery capacity and premium design.
Apple iPhone 14 plus
The Good
+ Excellent multi-day battery life
+ Big, bright screen
+ Light despite its size
The Bad
+ Hard to use one-handed or fit in a pocket
+ Lacks latest features like 120Hz screen
+ e-SIM transition will be easy for most but painful for some
It may be big, but the 14 plus is lighter than expected. It weighs 203g or just about an ounce (28g) more than the 6.1-inch 14 pro. Its lightweight is highly appreciated because this phone doesn’t fit in any pants pocket. It makes the 14 plus feel a little easier to handle than the Pro Max iPhone.
The screen is its big draw, but the extra real estate lends itself to the 14plus’ other killer feature: battery for days. MacRumors reports a much bigger cell in the 14 plus than in the 14- on par with the battery in the 14 pro max, but its fewer features manage better battery performance.
Using the iPhone 14 Plus feels like using the iPhone 14, which feels like the iPhone 13
In every other way, using the iPhone 14 plus feels like using the iPhone 14, but it also feels like using the iPhone 13. Performance is snappy, and the A15 Bionic chipset recycled from last year’s 13 Pro keeps up with almost anything you can throw at it.
As with the rest of the 14 series, there’s no physical SIM tray, so be prepared to get acquainted with e-SIM. The 14 Plus includes some new emergency features ( also available on the other 14 and 14 Pro models): Crash Detection and Emergency OSO via Satellite.
Crash Detection uses multiple phone sensors and inputs to automatically detect when you’ve been in a car accident and call emergency services. It hasn’t been tested, but early reviews are mixed.
Satellite SOS is a feature coming in November and it helps relay a message to emergency services when you’re out of cellular range. It might cost extra down the line, but for the first two years, it’s included free with the iPhone 14Plus. You will likely try it out even if you don’t need it.
iPhone 14 Pro max
The best iPhone ever, version 2022, size XL—we have the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This year’s (2023) list of novelties includes the notch morphing into a pill, the introduction of an Always-On display, and an all-new primary camera. While you can get all of that on the 14 Pro, the extra screen and longevity are ultimate on their own.
The face ID notch that’s been with us since the iPhone X was nobody’s favorite, and perhaps its reincarnation as a pill is a step towards its eventual removal. But not before turning the eyesore into a feature- the pill is a Dynamic Island of notifications, blurring the line between hardware and software.
In a similar vein is the Always-On display—a software feature made possible only now in Apple’s world thanks to LTPO displays’ ability to ramp down to a 1Hz refresh rate.
A massive increase in brightness is also among the key developments this year, this one solely in the hardware department.
Late to yet another party, Apple finally joins virtually every other manufacturer and introduces a camera with the Quad Bayer type sensor – the specs on the 48MP main don’t read like any other, so apparently, it is an exclusive design.
The telephoto remains unchanged, but the ultrawide has received an upgrade in sensor size, while the front-facing one features autofocus(and maybe even OIS).
On the hardware front, there’s the mandatory chipset update and little else worth mentioning. Well, there’s the blanked-out SIM card slot for the US models, which will only operate with e-SIMs – does that count as a hardware change?
Crash Detection and emergency sort-of-satellite connectivity are also on the list of new features combining software and hardware.
Wrapping Up
Apple iPhone 14 Plus vs. Apple iPhone 14 Pro max specs are invariably different; the iPhone 14 Plus is still a well-rounded device, especially for customers of a much older model who want a larger screen size.
But due to the scale of the breadth of the iPhone 14 pro max’s improvements and features, customers should actively choose the high-end model in most cases(it comes with promotion and always-on functionality, the Dynamic Island, the A16 Bionic chip, and a radically different camera set up, etc).
An adequate guide is needed to decide which of these two iPhone models is best for you and serves you well).
